The GHD Rehab advanced split end therapy is a lightweight hair cream that replenishes and seals split ends.

It’s an innovative treatment that activates with heat from a styler to bond damaged ends of the hair and make them smooth and strong again. The treatment also adds a protective coating around those split ends to prevent future breakage.

It won’t reverse the damage in the literal sense, but it can cut down on your visits to your hairdressers to have them dusted out.

I use the split end therapy to ensure my ends don’t get any worse. Otherwise, those splits can travel down my lengths to cause breakage. Not to mention the frizz and how they make my hair look unruly and a nightmare to put together into any decent style!

GHD Advanced Split End Therapy (New Rehab)

My GHD Rehab Split End Therapy Review

I’ve been struggling with split ends for years.

That’s also because I want to get a haircut less often, but at the same time, I need something that will make my hair look tidy, frizz-free, and manageable. When I saw this product on Amazon, I decided to try it because it claimed that it could seal split ends and smooth them out.

I have used flat irons and blow dryers on my hair regularly over the past few years, so there was no shortage of damage when I started using the GHD rehab.

I started using version 1 of this product, the original split end therapy. But GHD has improved the formula, and their version 2 is called the GHD Rehab Advanced Split End Therapy.

This review is about version 2 – the GHD Rehab.

After just one application, my hair felt amazingly soft.

It almost felt like silk, and people noticed too!

Since then, every time someone compliments me on how healthy my locks look now compared to before (I’ve only been using this product for a couple of months), I tell them all about “my secret weapon,” which happens to be this amazing product called…you guessed it: GHD Split End Therapy!

The product itself is easy to use without any mess.

It’s a lightweight cream that is activated by the heat of a styler like a hair straightener, blow dryer, or curling wand to infuse it into the hair. Once activated and properly set, it seals the hair cuticles for a sleeker, smoother, and shinier look. Not a single strand is out of place!

What’s even better is that after continuous use, you notice more growth because it stops the hair from thinning and breaking in patches, which is a common problem when you have lots of split ends.

After 2 months, I noticed improved hair growth, better length retention, and my hair looks glossier than ever.

How Does It Work?

The split end therapy treatment uses a technology called the Thermo-Marine Bonding system, which binds broken hair fibers together and fills them to prevent them from fraying.

GHD calls it a groundbreaking treatment as it uses heat to repair the hair, which is a new concept in haircare and a bit of a misnomer.

Check out this illustration to understand how it works:

The treatment’s formula also includes a blend of nutrient-rich ingredients (super nutrient complex) that coat overworked strands for added protection and moisture retention.

To activate the binding process, a heat styling tool is used to seal the lightweight, non-greasy cream into the damaged ends.

And this is how the ghd split end treatment makes straggly ends look bang tidy!

How to Use the GHD Advanced Split End Therapy

how to use ghd rehab advanced split end therapy

The GHD Rehab advanced split end therapy is a heat-activated hair treatment.

For best results, you must apply it and use a heat styling tool to seal it into the hair.

Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to use the advanced split end therapy:

  1. Start with shampooed hair that has been towel dried.
  2. Dispense around 10 ml of the product into your hands (depends on hair length and amount of split ends).
  3. Comb the product through the towel-dried hair to ensure even distribution. Use a detangling comb.
  4. Section the hair and blow dry smooth to remove excess moisture.
  5. Once dry, divide the hair into small sections.
  6. Use a flat iron to go over each section.

Recommended Products to use alongside:

You can use it on both wet and dry hair. But I noticed the product worked better on freshly washed hair because it absorbs better and faster. Unwashed hair may have buildup that can affect the efficacy of the treatment.

How Many Washes Does It Last?

The Split End Therapy lasts for up to ten washes. Most people who use it would apply it to their hair after every wash, which I also do.

The more you use it, the more it prolongs the time for an appointment with your hairdresser for a split ends trim.

I know, eventually, you’ll need it, but the longer you can put it off, the better (money-wise). The cream will help prevent the splitting of your hair and keep it looking healthy and shiny for longer.

How Often to Use the Ghd Rehab Split End Therapy?

There is no set rule on how often you should use the split end therapy.

You can use it after every wash or when your hair needs a touch-up. Whatever works best for you, really. I keep a small size in my handbag to use on the go.

Does It Work on All Hair Types?

The product works well for straight and curly hair. It does not perform well on coarse and kinky hair textures.

Where to Buy Ghd Advanced Split End Therapy

There are a few options for buying the GHD split end therapy. You can buy it from Amazon, Ulta, and Sephora. You may also find it in your local drugstore.

It’s a 3.4 fl. oz (100 ml) tube that can be bought on its own or together with other GHD hair products.

Final Thoughts

The GHD Split End Therapy is an excellent product for instantly repairing split ends and keeping them from returning. It works well at camouflaging them.

However, it’s just a quick fix between your salon appointments to keep your hair tidy and less prone to breakage. You will still need to get those split ends trimmed at some point.
